HR Advisor (12-Month Contract) – Public Sector

Bolton based | Hybrid Working

£16.43 – £21.65 per hour

37 hours per week

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Advisor to join a busy and well-established local authority HR team on an initial 12-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HR professional to step into a fast-paced, operational environment, supporting managers across a wide range of employee relations matters.

About the Role

You will be part of the operational HR function, working closely with HR Managers to provide a high-quality advisory service across the organisation.

This is a business-as-usual role, focused on delivering core HR support rather than project-based work.

Key Responsibilities

Managing end-to-end employee relations casework, including

Disciplinary

Grievance

Sickness absence

Capability

Providing clear, practical HR advice to managers in line with employment law and policy

Supporting managers through formal hearings and presenting at panels

Advising on organisational change, restructures, and consultations where requiredCAREER GRADE HR OFFICER 2012 JDPS

Building effective working relationships across departments and with key stakeholders

Contributing to the ongoing development of HR policies and proceduresCAREER GRADE HR OFFICER 2012 JDPS

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have

Essential

Proven experience at HR Advisor level

Strong background in managing complex ER casework from start to finish

CIPD Level 5 (minimum)

Ability to work confidently in a policy-driven, fast-paced environment

Desirable

Experience within a local authority or public sector setting

Additional Information

Full-time office attendance is required for the first month, followed by hybrid working

Clear and structured experience is essential – candidates must be able to demonstrate a consistent and logical career history
