What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Senior Director of Marketing, Business Banking to lead and scale marketing for Monzo’s Business Banking as a distinct and growing business line.

This is a broad, enterprise-shaping leadership role. You will own the end-to-end marketing strategy for Business Banking, serving micro and small businesses across the UK and future European markets. You’ll bring a deep understanding of SMB customers, combining brand-led growth, self-serve acquisition, lifecycle excellence, and commercial rigour to unlock sustainable growth.

Reporting into the VP Marketing, whilst working closely with Business Banking’s GM, you will lead and shape how marketing drives impact across the full business line, from awareness to retention, from positioning to performance.

This is not a functional GTM or sales enablement role. It is a full-spectrum marketing leadership position for a high-growth B2B (SMB) business area within Monzo.

What you’ll be doing

Define and lead the long-term marketing vision for Monzo Business as a standalone business area,

Set the integrated strategy across brand, acquisition, lifecycle, engagement, and retention.

Embed a clear SMB lens into all marketing efforts, ensuring we reflect the realities of micro and small business owners.

Drive sustainable, scalable, primarily self-serve growth across the UK and new European markets.

Balance brand-led growth with performance excellence to maximise LTV and portfolio profitability.

Partner closely with Product, Growth, and Finance to align marketing investment with business priorities.

Directly manage 3 senior leaders across key disciplines initially (with scope to grow the structure).

Oversee the full marketing portfolio across channels and customer lifecycle stages.

Ensure cohesive storytelling, disciplined experimentation, and measurable impact.

In this role, you will bring

Proven B2B (SMB) Marketing Leadership

Fintech or financial services experience is valuable but not essential.

Strong understanding of self-serve growth models and digital acquisition ecosystems.

Broad exposure across brand, growth, lifecycle, and customer marketing.

A natural spike in one discipline (e.g., performance, brand, lifecycle, product marketing), but credible across the full spectrum.

Experience owning marketing for a full business line.

Experience leading multi-layered marketing teams.

Comfortable inheriting and evolving an existing team structure.

Track record of building clarity, pace, and accountability within scaling organisations.

Strong ability to connect marketing activity to revenue, retention, and long-term business value.

Confident making investment trade-offs across channels and markets.

Comfortable operating at executive altitude while maintaining operational excellence.

Deep empathy for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Bring a genuine understanding of SMB chal
