IT Support Engineer
Location: Manchester (Hybrid - 2 days on-site, 3 days from home)
Salary: Up to £26,500 per annum
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in an IT support role
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and technically capable IT Support Engineer to join our team based in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with at least one year of hands-on IT support experience who is looking to grow their career in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
You will be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries, providing efficient and professional support to end users across the business. The role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement - 2 days on-site in Manchester and 3 days working from home.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to end users via phone, email, and ticketing system
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner
Set up and configure laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals
Manage user accounts and permissions using Active Directory / Microsoft 365
Maintain and update the IT asset register and documentation
Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or third-party vendors where appropriate
Support onboarding of new starters, including equipment setup and system access
Assist with IT projects and infrastructure improvements as required
Ensure IT procedures and security policies are followed across the business
Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT support processes and documentation
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in an IT support or helpdesk role
Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 operating systems
Experience with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
Familiarity with Active Directory - creating and managing user accounts and groups
Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi troubleshooting)
Experience troubleshooting hardware issues (laptops, desktops, printers, peripherals)
Good understanding of IT security best practices
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
A proactive, can-do attitude with excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload effectively
Desirable Skills
Experience with an IT ticketing system (e.g. Freshdesk, Jira Service Management, Zendesk)
Knowledge of Azure Active Directory / Entra ID
Familiarity with remote desktop tools (e.g. TeamViewer, AnyDesk)
CompTIA A+, Microsoft certifications, or equivalent qualifications
Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Exposure to basic PowerShell scripting or automation
