An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious Assistant Accountant to join a well-established and growing business based in Liverpool. Client Details
Our client is a well-established and successful UK business with a strong reputation for quality, operational excellence and long-term growth. With a diverse product portfolio and a collaborative culture, the organisation continues to invest in its people, systems and processes to support future expansion. The finance team plays a key role in driving performance and decision-making across the business, providing employees with excellent exposure to both financial and management accounting activities.
This is an opportunity to join a supportive and close-knit finance function where you will work alongside experienced professionals, gain broad commercial exposure and contribute to a variety of accounting, reporting and process improvement initiatives. The business offers a stable environment, genuine career development opportunities and support for ongoing professional qualifications.
Description
This is a varied and hands-on role where you'll work closely with the Financial Controller and Management Accountant, gaining exposure to a broad range of financial and management accounting activities.
A significant part of your role will focus on inventory and cost accounting, helping to ensure stock movements are accurately reflected within the accounts. You'll investigate discrepancies, reconcile stock balances, analyse stock adjustments and work with colleagues across the business to understand the story behind the numbers. This will give you real visibility across operations and commercial activities, rather than being purely desk-based accounting.
Alongside this, you'll be heavily involved in the month-end close process, preparing journals, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of key balance sheet areas, helping to identify issues, resolve variances and continually improve processes.
You'll also support the wider finance team with management reporting and analysis, contributing to gross margin reporting, cost of sales analysis and performance reporting that helps drive business decisions. This is a role where you'll be encouraged to question numbers, identify trends and provide meaningful insight, rather than simply processing transactions.
Working within a small and collaborative finance team means you'll gain exposure to a variety of projects and initiatives, including supporting external audits, assisting with system and process improvements, and helping to strengthen financial controls across the business.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their management accounting skills, take on increasing responsibility and gain genuine commercial exposure while continuing their professional accounting studies. Key Responsibilities
