The Opportunity

We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong accounting experience who enjoys working in a varied role covering management accounts, ledger management, reconciliations and financial reporting. The successful candidate will be a proactive team player with the ability to work independently and manage their workload effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation of monthly management accounts, including

Profit & Loss

Balance Sheets

Variance Analysis

Management and reconciliation of the general ledger

Full responsibility for sales Ledger and purchase ledger processes

Reconciliation of multiple bank accounts and balance sheet accounts

Investigation and resolution of aged items and outstanding balances

Raising invoices and ensuring accurate revenue recognition

Managing credit control activities and resolving payment queries

Maintaining the fixed asset register

Inputting financial information into the company reporting system

Identifying opportunities to improve, streamline and automate finance processes

Supporting year-end accounting requirements and external audit activities

Ensuring all reporting deadlines are met in line with agreed timetables

Assisting with a range of finance-related activities and ad hoc projects as required

Ad hoc duties as required

About You

To be considered for this role, you should have

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a similar Finance Officer, Assistant Accountant or Management Accountant position

Experience preparing accounts to trial balance

Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines

A proactive and responsive approach to work

Strong communication skills with the confidence to build effective working relationships across the business

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
