Job Title: Senior Financial Accounting Manager

Salary: £48,000 to £52,000

Location: Northwest (with flexibility)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

This is a fabulous opportunity to join one of the UK's largest and most successful charities, as a Senior Financial Accounting Manager. Within this role you will have the chance to lead a complex and varied financial controls function, influencing senior stakeholders and leading critical statutory reporting, audit, treasury, and compliance activities.

Day-to-day of the role

Maintain and strengthen the organisation's financial control framework.

Own balance sheet integrity and produce monthly balance sheet and cash flow reporting.

Lead the preparation and review of statutory accounts and financial statements.

Coordinate the consolidation of group and subsidiary accounts.

Manage external audit relationships and ensure successful audit delivery.

Oversee compliance submissions including HMRC, ONS, Gift Aid, and other regulatory requirements.

Lead treasury accounting, liquidity reporting, and cash flow forecasting.

Support business acquisitions, mergers, and integrations from a finance perspective.

Drive financial process improvement and reduce manual intervention through smarter controls and systems.

Translate complex accounting matters into clear, meaningful insights for senior leaders and trustees.

Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.

Significant experience within financial accounting, financial controls, audit, or statutory reporting.

Strong understanding of UK accounting standards, financial regulations, and governance requirements.

Experience producing consolidated group accounts.

Experience managing and coordinating external audits.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Strong leadership experience with a track record of developing teams.

Advanced Excel skills.

Highly Desirable

Experience working within a charity or not-for-profit environment.

M&A accounting and business integration experience.

Exposure to complex group structures.

Experience leading finance transformation or control improvement projects.
