Senior Data Engineer

Senior Data Engineer | Edinburgh (Hybrid – 3 or 4 days onsite) | £75k - £90k DOE

Meraki Talent has partnered exclusively with an ambitious Scale Up who, after some recent investment, are looking to expand their operations in Edinburgh.

This business is on an exciting journey and as part of the next stage, they are looking for to hire a Senior Data Engineer to own and develop their data platform/warehouse: the ingestion layer for a wide range of complex data sets. You will own the data-platform architecture, develop the ingestion and transformation layers, and own the entity-resolution capability.

Their data layers are Postgres/ DuckDB / Ducklake; integrations and orchestration run in Python/FastAPI.

Technical Experience

Strong, production grade Python and SQL.

Experience building and operating ELT/ETL pipelines and a data warehouse end to end.

Solid dimensional / analytical data modelling

Experience integrating messy external APIs and bulk datasets

Strong Postgres

Experience with a transformation framework (dbt or SQLMesh) and an orchestrator (Dagster, Airflow, Prefect, or similar).

Modern Python data tooling; DuckDB for analytical compute.

Financial Services / Wealth domain would be ideal but not essential as well as start up / scale up experience.

Please note: As they scale the business and build out their engineering function, they are looking for people to be onsite regularly to bring the team together and allowing the team to work effectively and efficiently (3 / 4 days per week)
