A leading accountancy practice is seeking a Senior Accountant-Advisor to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio, delivering both high-quality compliance work and proactive advisory support. The role combines hands-on technical accounting with commercial client engagement, team oversight, and the development of value-added insights that help clients improve performance, profitability, and strategic direction.
Role Responsibilities
Act as the primary contact for a varied and complex client portfolio, managing workflow and ensuring deadlines are consistently met
Respond to client queries within 24 hours and lead client meetings, including agendas, action points, and follow-up notes
Provide commercial insight across turnover, margins, cashflow, efficiencies, cost savings, and risk areas
Review accounts and other outputs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality standards are met, identifying areas requiring further analysis or stress testing
Support the preparation and review of management accounts, forecasts, and scenario-based "what if" analysis
Challenge and improve client forecasts, assumptions, and business plans to drive stronger decision-making
Carry out advisory work including business scorecards, valuations, systems reviews, and process improvement recommendations
Develop structured action plans with clear milestones and secure client buy-in for delivery
Apply appropriate technical knowledge in areas such as R&D tax relief, CT600 treatment, liquidations, and financing options
Delegate work effectively to junior team members and review outputs, providing constructive feedback and support
Act as a role model for quality, professionalism, and adherence to firm processes
Personal Requirements
Near-qualified or fully qualified ACA/ACCA (or equivalent)
Strong technical accounting background across statutory accounts, management accounts, tax, and advisory work
Experience reviewing accounts and providing commercial commentary or insight
Strong client-facing experience with the ability to build trusted relationships
Commercially aware with the ability to interpret financial and non-financial data effectively
Confident communicator able to explain complex information clearly
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with excellent attention to detail
