Procurement Manager

A leading manufacturer in the chemical manufacturing sector is seeking a Procurement Manager to take full ownership of their UK procurement function. This role offers you the opportunity to shape procurement strategy, influence sourcing decisions, and deliver measurable business impact within a supportive international network. You will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, working closely with colleagues across multiple functions and sites, including an established European manufacturing facility.

What You'll Do

As Procurement Manager, you will be entrusted with end-to-end responsibility for the procurement function at a thriving UK manufacturing site. Your day-to-day activities will involve:

Develop and implement robust procurement strategies for chemical raw materials and packaging.

Lead negotiations for pricing, contracts, payment terms and long-term supply agreements.

Identify opportunities for supplier rationalisation, category management and strategic sourcing to optimise spend across all product categories.

Monitor market developments, raw material indices and supply chain trends to anticipate risks and proactively address potential challenges.

Create sourcing strategies that improve business resilience through dual sourcing arrangements and contingency planning initiatives.

Partner with international colleagues on joint sourcing initiatives, group purchasing agreements and harmonisation of suppliers to maximise commercial benefits.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate for the Procurement Manager position brings substantial experience including:

Proven experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment where you have managed complex supply chains involving chemical raw materials or industrial commodities.

Demonstrated success in negotiating commercial agreements.

Strong understanding of supplier relationship management principles.

Outstanding communication abilities allowing you to engage effectively with stakeholders across Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Regulatory and Finance functions as well as international colleagues.

Resilience in adapting to changing priorities within a busy manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail in all aspects of procurement operations.
