MI Analyst/Business Analyst
12 month fixed term contract, maternity
London, hybrid
£highly competitive base + benefits
A leading and highly prestigious Financial Services organisation is looking for an MI/Business Analyst to cover a 12-month maternity leave, starting early October.
This sits on the dealing floor and reports directly to the CEO of the securities business. It is a data role first and a BA role second, roughly two thirds data and one third stakeholder work. You will own the firm wide MI that goes out regularly, plus ad hoc analysis for individual stakeholders. Requests come from everywhere: the co-CEO one day, a salesperson with a client question the next.
The data sits in a data lake, fed by the CRM, trading activity and payments. Your job is to work out which data points answer the question, pull them, combine other sources where needed, and present something the business can actually use.
What we need to see
Significant experience in an MI, data or reporting analyst role within financial services
Must have experience with stakeholder engagement preferably in a BA capacity
Advanced Excel including Power Query and pivots
Tableau and SQL. Power BI is where the firm is heading, so exposure there is useful
Experience handling large datasets on a repeatable, industrial basis rather than one off analysis in a spreadsheet
The ability to take a business request, work out what is actually being asked, and turn it into the right report or presentation
Comfort talking to people at every level of a trading business
This role will suit someone who is genuinely hands on with data but can hold their own in front of senior stakeholders.
Worth knowing
Culture matters here. The team puts real weight on how people work together. For the right person there is a strong chance this becomes something longer term beyond the 12 months given the growth of the business.
