Management Accountant

The Role

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the finance function delivers accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information to support strategic business decisions.This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys working closely with operational teams and senior stakeholders, helping to drive profitability and continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and post month-end journals within agreed Finance SLAs.

Reconcile bank accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations.

Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.

Analyse financial performance, identify variances, and investigate unusual cost trends.

Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly VAT returns in line with company and HMRC deadlines.

Manage prepayments and accruals, ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Reconcile costing reports and validate financial data.

Review and validate subcontractor payments prior to processing.

Support purchase ledger and sales ledger functions as required.

Produce ad-hoc financial reports and analysis, identifying trends and recommending improvements.

Contribute to process improvements and enhanced financial controls across the business.

Skills & Experience

Significant experience in a similar Management Accountant position.

Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and practices.

Advanced proficiency with Sage Accounting and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across all levels of the business.

Experience working within a growing, fast-paced environment is advantageous.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Qualifications

ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
