Management Accountant Wakefield (Hybrid) £45,000 - £55,000
The Opportunity
We're recruiting a Management Accountant on behalf of a well-established, high-growth business based in Wakefield. This is a genuinely varied role within an efficient, well-controlled finance function, working closely with the Financial Controller and Senior Management team at an exciting and complex time for the business.
You'll take ownership of core management accounting and reporting, while also getting involved in statutory, tax and group reporting, and playing an active role in developing business partnering across the organisation. It's a role with real scope to grow, both in terms of technical exposure and in leading and developing others within the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare full monthly management accounts and the supporting reporting suite
Own balance sheet management, including the fixed asset register and monthly reconciliations
Business partner with the Senior Management team and wider finance function, providing analysis and reporting against forecast
Present financial data clearly to stakeholders at all levels
Support the preparation and submission of statutory accounts and group reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and frameworks
Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, ensuring a smooth year-end and audit process
Assist with accurate and timely submission of corporate tax and other statutory returns
Support the implementation of new systems and drive automation and process improvement as the business grows
Contribute to annual planning and reforecasting, with a focus on staff costs, overheads, cashflow and the balance sheet
Ensure intercompany transactions, loans and interest are correctly accounted for
Support operational stakeholders in following correct financial procedures
Lead, coach and develop members of the finance team
What We're Looking For
A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) or part-qualified
Demonstrable experience preparing full management accounts and supporting information
Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
A robust, resilient approach, comfortable dealing with change and challenge while staying focused on outcomes
Confidence to challenge the status quo and question information appropriately, rather than take it at face value
A hands-on attitude, balanced with the ability to see the bigger picture
Strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills across all levels
Why Apply
This is a strong opportunity for a high-performing accountant looking to broaden their experience and take on real responsibility within a business that's investing in its finance function during a period of genuine growth and change.
