Management Accountant

Axon Moore are working with a fantastic business in the Rochdale area to appoint a Qualified Accountant. The business has grown to over £30m turnover and now has ambitious plans to grow to £100m over the next five years through a combination of organic growth and acquisition.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of the company's day-to-day and monthly financial accounting activities and become one of the key finance contacts across the business. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the nominal ledger, producing accurate monthly financial information and supporting the business through an exciting period of transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting

Managing the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting

Maintaining the nominal ledger, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations

Managing VAT, payroll and HMRC submissions, ensuring ongoing compliance

Maintaining the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules

Assisting with cash flow forecasting and treasury activities

Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes

Supporting the statutory accounts preparation and acting as a key contact for external auditors

Producing financial analysis to support business decision making

Continuously improving financial controls, reporting processes and documentation

Playing an active role in the implementation and development of Sage 50, whilst contributing towards the future ERP project.

Personal Attributes

3+ years’ experience producing monthly management accounts

Qualifications such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA are desirable but not essential

Previous manufacturing experience would be desirable but not essential

Strong nominal ledger and month-end accounting experience

Excellent Excel skills and experience using accounting systems, ideally Sage 50

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues

A proactive, practical approach to solving problems

High attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines
