A prestigious NGO in London is seeking a Financial Accountant to join them on a temporary to permanent basis. This role involves leading the recognition and reconciliation of supporter income, overseeing payroll processes, and providing financial control and support.
Lead on recognition and accurate recording of supporter income in SUN, ensuring timely and complete postings.
Manage the integrity and lead reconciliations of income data between the Supporter Database (CSD), bank accounts, and SUN.
Adapt the link from CSD to SUN to accommodate new approaches as the fundraising programme develops.
Review and approve payroll submissions and BACS payment runs, ensuring compliance with payroll controls and statutory deductions.
Act as a key payroll checker before submission to ensure data accuracy.
Serve as a primary BACS approver for payroll and supplier payments, providing continuity and risk mitigation.
Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc and recurring tasks related to financial control, compliance, and audit readiness.
Contribute to periodic review and improvement of internal controls and financial procedures.
Ensure timely monthly UK bank reconciliations, maintaining high accuracy and transparency.
Collaborate with international finance teams to provide guidance on month-end close and income coding.
Liaise with the International Finance and Business Support Lead to develop monthly international office cut-off processes.
Advise fundraising staff on earmarking requirements and processes, and perform annual reconciliation of earmarked income to matched programmatic spending.
Support the administration of small legacy pension schemes and ensure accurate VAT return submissions to HMRC.
Proven experience in financial management, particularly in income recognition, bank reconciliations, and financial control.
Strong understanding of financial systems, preferably including experience with SUN software.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across teams.
Ideally experience in an international charity.
