An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join a rapidly expanding £20m turnover FMCG retail/e-commerce business in Merseyside - on track to grow to £50m in the next 3 years through ongoing UK growth and expansion into European territories. As the number two in finance in the business, you will report directly to the Head of Finance, leading a finance team of 2. Whilst focussed on Statutory, Financial Accounting and Tax aspects of the business, this is a broad role working very closely with the Head of Finance with exposure to all financial aspects of the business.

Key responsibilities

Month-end and year-end financial close.

Monthly management accounts.

Financial reporting.

balance sheet controls and reconciliations.

Cash flow and working capital monitoring.

Key financial performance indicators reporting.

Overseeing the accounting for revenue, stock, cost of sales and landed costs

Support the budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling process.

Providing financial analysis and insight to budget holders/senior management.

Monitoring stock and stock accounting across warehouses and third-party logistics providers.

Ensuring tax compliance.

Supporting the preparation and submission of corporation tax returns.

Preparing and reviewing UK VAT returns.

Managing VAT requirements relating to international e-commerce and cross-border transactions.

Work closely with external tax advisers on corporation tax and other tax matters.

Reviewing the tax implications of new markets, sales channels and business structures.

Supporting international VAT, customs duty and transfer pricing requirements where applicable.

Leading the annual external audit process.

Coordinating the preparation of statutory financial statements.

Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements.

Management and development of the finance team.

Business Partner with Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain and Sales teams.

Supporting the Head of Finance with strategic projects, including system implementations, new market launches and new market exploration.

The successful candidate

Qualified CIMA, ACA or ACCA or later stage studier.

Previous staff management experience.

UK VAT and corporation tax knowledge.

External audit experience.

Statutory accounts and financial reporting experience

Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.

Excellent attention to detail and financial accuracy.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

A proactive approach to identifying risks and improving processes.

Experience with an e-commerce, retail or a multi-channel consumer business preferred.

Salary and benefits

Salary of £50,000-60,000 (possibly some flexibility)

Performance-related bonus

25 days’ holiday

5% pension contribution

Flexible working around core hours of 10am – 4pm

Hybrid working: four days in the office and one day from home
