Finance Business Partner

Location: Cannock Salary: £45,000.00

Summary: This is an opportunity for a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to join a busy finance team. Working closely with operational leaders and departmental budget holders, you will combine strong management accounting expertise with the communication skills to turn complex financial and operational data into clear, practical insight. You will challenge spend constructively, explain budgets and variances to non-finance colleagues, and help teams make better-informed decisions that improve performance, control costs and support sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will act as the key finance contact for designated business areas and provide insight, challenge and support across the organisation. Your responsibilities will include:

Prepare and review accurate weekly and monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.

Build trusted relationships with operational leaders and budget holders, becoming a visible and credible finance partner across non-finance departments.

Translate financial and operational data into clear commercial insight, explaining performance drivers, risks and opportunities in straightforward language.

Challenge expenditure and performance constructively, working with stakeholders to understand variances, strengthen accountability and agree practical actions.

Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting, helping departments build robust, driver-based plans aligned with business objectives.

Develop and present meaningful KPIs, dashboards and management information, with clear commentary and forward-looking recommendations.

Provide financial modelling, scenario analysis and commercial evaluation for operational changes, investment proposals and other business decisions.

Identify opportunities to improve revenue, cost control, productivity and the effective use of resources.

Prepare quarterly VAT accounting and VAT returns, maintain strong financial controls, and support year-end reporting and audit requirements.

Drive continuous improvement in reporting, planning, systems and processes while building financial understanding across the business.

Experience: You will be a confident management accountant with the commercial judgement and interpersonal skills to influence colleagues at every level. You should be able to demonstrate:

Strong hands-on management accounting experience, including month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting and detailed variance analysis.

Part-qualified or qualified ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, with a sound understanding of financial controls and governance.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance audiences.

The confidence to ask insightful questions, challenge spend and influence decisions while maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to connect financial results with operational activity and wider business objectives.

Advanced Excel, analytical and financial modelling skills, with experience of KPI reporting and management information.

A collaborative, proactive and organised approach, with the ability to balance commercial partnering with accurate delivery of core finance activities.

Oracle experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
