Interim Management Accountant / Finance Business Partner

A senior interim opportunity to work directly with the Finance Director, improve financial reporting and help shape a finance function going through a period of change.

Our client is a well-established social enterprise providing urgent medical and dental services. They are looking for an experienced finance professional to join on an interim basis for an initial 3-4 months, with the potential for this to extend.

This is more than a standard Management Accountant position. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Director to strengthen management accounts, improve reporting and processes, support the Board and provide additional business partnering and leadership capability across the finance function.

The Role The business has a significant amount of work to get through, and the Finance Director needs someone experienced who can come in, understand what needs doing and get on with it.

You'll be involved in

Producing and improving monthly management accounts and financial reporting

Working closely with the Finance Director to strengthen the finance function and improve its infrastructure

Helping to build and streamline management accounting processes

Improving the quality, consistency and presentation of financial information

Supporting the preparation of Board reports and Board-level information

Providing financial insight and helping to simplify complex information for non-finance stakeholders

Supporting year-end activity and wider finance projects

Developing reporting and processes to give the business better visibility of performance

Providing commercial finance and business partnering support across the organisation

Helping to assess and develop business cases

Taking ownership of projects and other areas of work where additional senior finance support is required

Providing day-to-day support and guidance to the wider finance team

Line managing and supporting members of the finance team where required

What they're looking for This role needs someone who can hit the ground running and operate with a high degree of independence.

You'll ideally be

A fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)

An experienced Management Accountant / Finance Manager / Finance Business Partner

Strong technically, with a proven understanding of management accounts and financial reporting

Comfortable working directly with a Finance Director and senior leadership

Experienced in building or improving finance processes and reporting infrastructure

Confident presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and ideally Boards

A strong business partner who can translate financial information into something useful and understandable

Experienced in line management and developing finance teams

Highly competent in Excel

Comfortable working through change, ambiguity and competing priorities

Someone who can identify what needs doing and simply get on with it

Experience within healthcare, social enterprise or a similar environment would be useful, particularly where you've had exposure to business cases and working with a range of non-finance stakeholders, but industry experience isn't essential.

Power BI experience would also be beneficial.

Most importantly, they're looking for someone pragmatic, professional and collaborative who can come in, roll their sleeves up and make things happen.
