This is a broad, hands-on senior management position responsible for the organisation's business and operational functions. Working closely with the Trustees, Registered Care Manager and Finance Manager, the Business Manager will play a key role in ensuring the organisation operates effectively, safely and commercially.
Our client is particularly interested in candidates with a broad range of operational and commercial experience, ideally gained within a regulated, charitable, not-for-profit or similarly structured environment.
The role has a strong facilities and operations focus, alongside responsibility for governance, compliance, contractors, projects, people and commercial management.
A particularly important part of the role will be marketing and occupancy. The successful candidate will take a proactive approach to raising the organisation's profile, developing relationships with referral partners and identifying opportunities to increase enquiries and occupancy.
Business & Strategic Management
Work with Trustees and senior management to deliver strategic and operational priorities.
Prepare management reports and recommendations for Trustees.
Monitor and drive occupancy levels.

Build relationships with local authorities, professional networks, community organisations and referral sources.
Oversee website content, promotional activity, events and community engagement.
Monitor enquiries, referral sources, conversion and occupancy.
Keep the local market and competitor landscape under review.
Facilities, Premises & Projects
Take responsibility for the management of the premises, grounds and facilities.
Oversee building repairs, maintenance, refurbishment and improvement projects.
Manage contractors and external suppliers.
Oversee building projects from planning through to completion.
Manage relevant service contracts.
Ensure statutory checks, insurance, licences, risk assessments and health and safety requirements are maintained.
Governance, Compliance & Risk
Maintain the organisation's non-clinical policy framework and risk register.
Support compliance across health and safety, employment, data protection, insurance and business continuity.
Prepare information for Trustees and ensure agreed actions are progressed.

Oversee purchasing, suppliers and contracts, ensuring value for money.
About You This role would suit an experienced Business Manager, Operations Manager, Facilities Manager, General Manager or similar senior operational professional who is comfortable working across a broad remit. We are particularly keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
Experience in a broad operational or business management role.
Experience within a regulated, compliance-led or professionally governed environment.
Strong facilities and premises experience.
Understanding of health & safety, risk management, governance and compliance.
Experience overseeing a diverse workforce and multiple support functions.
Strong commercial awareness, including budgets, suppliers and contracts.
A genuine marketing and business development mindset, with evidence of developing relationships, generating enquiries or increasing business activity.
Excellent organisation, communication and relationship-building skills.
A hands-on approach combined with the ability to think strategically.
Care sector experience is not essential. Our client is open to candidates from a range of sectors who can demonstrate the breadth of operational, commercial and facilities experience required. You do not need to be an HR specialist, as external specialist HR support is available. What is important is that you are confident overseeing people processes and know when to seek appropriate professional advice.
Don't Meet Every Requirement? You do not need to tick every single box to be considered. We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate the right breadth of experience, a strong operational mindset and the ability to take ownership and learn. Some elements of the role can be developed on the job with the right support. If you feel you have the core experience and transferable skills to succeed, we would encourage you to apply and we can discuss your experience and suitability further following your application.
If you are an experienced operational or business management professional looking for a varied role combining facilities, people, governance, commercial management and business development, we would love to hear from you.
