About the Company
Our client is a leading global logistics and freight forwarding organisation providing comprehensive international transport solutions to customers worldwide. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to join their expanding commercial team in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced freight forwarding sales professional to join a successful international organisation, developing new business opportunities and growing existing customer relationships across the UK and international freight markets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and securing new business, developing long-term customer relationships, and delivering tailored freight forwarding solutions across road, sea, and air freight operations.

Competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum basic & commission structure

Business Development Manager - Requirements
Previous experience within freight forwarding, logistics, shipping, or international transport sales
Proven track record of generating new business and achieving sales targets
Strong understanding of international freight forwarding, including road, sea, and/or air freight
Existing network of contacts within the logistics, freight, import/export, or supply chain sectors would be advantageous
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Confident in identifying and developing new business opportunities
Commercially minded with the ability to understand customer requirements and develop tailored freight solutions
Experience preparing quotations, negotiating rates, and securing new contracts
Strong ability to manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to conversion and account development
Highly motivated, proactive, and results-driven approach
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple prospects and opportunities simultaneously
Confident using CRM systems and maintaining accurate sales records
Professional approach with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Business Development Manager - Responsibilities
Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the freight forwarding and logistics market
Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective customers and sales opportunities
Proactively generate new leads through telephone prospecting, networking, referrals, market research, and other business development activities
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customers
Understand customer requirements and provide tailored freight forwarding and logistics solutions
Prepare and present competitive quotations and commercial proposals to prospective customers
Negotiate rates, terms, and service agreements to secure new business while maintaining commercial margins
Manage the full sales process from initial prospecting through to onboarding and account handover
Work closely with operations and customer service teams to ensure a smooth transition of new customers
Identify opportunities to increase revenue and expand services across existing customer accounts
Maintain regular contact with customers to understand changing requirements and identify further opportunities
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and developments within the freight forwarding and logistics sector
Attend customer meetings, networking events, exhibitions, and industry events where required
Maintain accurate customer, prospect, pipeline, and sales activity information within the CRM system
Achieve agreed individual sales, revenue, and gross profit targets
Prepare regular sales forecasts and reports for management
Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure customer expectations are consistently met
Support the development of commercial strategies and initiatives to increase market share
Ensure all sales activity is conducted in accordance with company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
Provide a high level of customer service throughout the sales and account development process
