Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant Liverpool City Centre Full-time | Permanent | Hybrid Working

We're working with a well-established organisation based in Liverpool who are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This role is ideal for an AAT studier who already has hands-on accounts experience and is keen to continue developing their technical skills within a supportive, professional environment.

You'll be involved across the month-end process, reconciliations, VAT and management reporting, giving you genuine exposure to core accounting. The Role Reporting into the Finance Manager, you'll support the preparation of monthly accounts and play an active part in the day-to-day running of the finance function. Responsibilities will include:

Posting month-end journals, accruals and prepayments

Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations

Assisting with monthly management accounts and ad-hoc reporting

Preparing and submitting VAT returns

Bank reconciliations and support with treasury activity

Intercompany reconciliations and recharge invoicing

Supporting budgeting, forecasting and commission calculations

Assisting with year-end processes and statutory audit

Supporting payment runs and general ledger queries

About You This role will suit someone who is studying AAT (or equivalent) and is looking to move their career forward in a well-rounded accounts role.

You'll ideally have

Current or recent experience in an assistant accountant / accounts assistant position

Practical experience with reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments

A working knowledge of VAT and VAT returns

Strong Excel and general systems skills

Good analytical ability and attention to detail

A proactive attitude with the desire to learn and progress

Experience with ERP systems (such as SAP) would be beneficial but is not essential. Why Apply?
