Wholesale Sales Manager
Lead and grow the wholesale channel for a well-established food manufacturing business with a strong regional brand, loyal customer base and…
The opportunity
Can you turn a good conversation into an order and a first order into a lasting customer relationship?
We’re looking for an experienced Wholesale Sales Manager to grow Pachamama’s wholesale business and take day-to-day responsibility for our customer relationships.
This is a hands-on role, primarily selling by phone and email. You’ll develop existing accounts, win back lapsed customers and approach new stockists, including cold calling. You’ll also sell at trade shows and visit selected customers.
Working closely with the directors, you’ll help shape our sales priorities, organise customer contact and coordinate with our external sales agents. Our main market is the UK, with opportunities to develop international business too.
Ideally, you’ll join our team in Wetherby, although we’re open to discussing alternative working arrangements with the right candidate.
About Pachamama
Pachamama is an independent, family-run knitwear wholesaler and online retailer. For over 35 years, we’ve been designing and selling distinctive woollen clothing and accessories, with most of our products handmade in Nepal from natural wool.
We’re proud members of BAFTS, the British Association for Fair Trade Shops & Suppliers, and support charitable organisations including Right4Children and Net4Kids.
We’re a small, friendly team looking for someone who will enjoy getting to know our products, our customers and the people behind the business.
What you will do
Grow existing accounts: check in with stockists during the season, understand what is selling and recommend products to secure repeat, top-up and forward orders.
Reconnect with quieter and lapsed customers: understand why ordering has reduced or stopped, address concerns and win back their business.
Bring in new stockists: research suitable retailers and proactively approach buyers by phone and email, including cold calling.
Convert interest into orders: follow up enquiries, samples and trade-show leads, handle objections and close sales.
Develop our sales plan: use customer history and seasonal buying patterns to agree priorities with the directors and organise your activity.
Sell at trade shows: coordinate invitations and appointments, help prepare for events, sell on the stand and follow up afterwards.
Develop key accounts: build relationships with customers offering strong growth potential and arrange visits where worthwhile.
Look after customers: follow up back orders and queries, coordinating stock availability, delivery updates and accurate order handovers with the team.
Coordinate external sales agents: share leads and product updates, review sales activity and coordinate customer follow-up within agreed account and territory arrangements.
Prepare agent commission reports: compile and check reports with accounts against agreed arrangements and resolve discrepancies.
Track results: maintain customer records and a sales pipeline, report against agreed targets and protect profitability within agreed pricing, discounts and payment terms.
Share customer insight: feed back on products, pricing and reasons for lost orders to inform future ranges and sales activity.
What you will bring
You’ll be confident picking up the phone and asking for the order, balancing new business with consistent care for existing customers.
Experience in proactive B2B sales, with clear examples of personally winning orders, growing accounts and developing lasting customer relationships.
Confidence approaching prospective customers and building relationships with buyers.
The ability to understand a retailer’s needs and recommend products suited to their shop.
Strong organisation, consistent follow-up and the initiative to plan your own sales activity and manage competing priorities.
Commercial awareness and confidence using sales figures and spreadsheets to identify opportunities and report results.
Clear, professional communication by phone and email, and confidence using customer databases or CRM systems.
A practical, collaborative approach suited to a small business.
Willingness to travel to trade shows and customer visits, including some weekend dates.
Experience selling to independent retailers in giftware, homeware, clothing or accessories, or working with external sales agents, would be an advantage. We also welcome relevant sales experience from other sectors.
