Contract: Permanent
Hours/ working pattern: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week What it's like to work here You’ll be reporting to the Experience and Programming Manager working with the wider property team at Tyntesfield.
Tyntesfield is a rare survivor, a near complete Victorian country estate. Spanish born merchant, William Gibbs, made his vast fortune from the Guano trade in South America, and used his wealth to transform an ordinary Georgian country house into a Gothic Revival Masterpiece. This richly decorated house, with its ornate private chapel, reflects the deep religious faith held by William, his wife Blanche, and their seven children. It contains more than 70,000 of the families possessions, some collected by William as he traded in the Hispanic world. Outside there are flower filled terraces, towering trees, an abundant kitchen garden and the views across estate to the Somerset hills. What you'll be doing As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great service for visitors. With your team, you’ll be welcoming people and inspiring them to really get to know Tyntesfield. This will include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here. You'll encourage visitors to take a closer look at artworks or precious objects cared for by the Trust.
You will be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You’re likely to be checking standards of presentation on site, or helping to write for our web pages Who we're looking for We'd love to hear from you if you’re:
