The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial records, maintaining strong controls, and assisting with month-end reporting activities.

The Role

The Trainee Assistant Accountant will support the wider team in delivering accurate financial processing, reconciliations, and reporting.

The role combines transactional finance responsibilities with month-end accounting support, offering excellent exposure to a broad range of accounting activities and providing a strong platform for future career development.

Key Responsibilities

Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.

Maintain supplier records and assist with the resolution of supplier queries and invoice discrepancies.

Record daily financial transactions across accounting systems and ensure accuracy of financial data.

Bank and ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving any variances identified.

Assist with month-end close activities, including journal postings and preparation of supporting schedules.

Maintain organised financial records and documentation to support audit and compliance requirements.

Assist in identifying opportunities to improve finance procedures, controls, and reporting processes.

General accounting and admin support to the wider Finance team as required.

Candidate Profile

Previous experience within a similar position

Experience of Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar.

Strong communication skills

Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Payroll experience not essential but highly advantageous
