Job Title: Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and maximising relationships within a defined panel of intermediary accounts to deliver agreed sales targets. Through proactive and consultative telephone and Teams-based engagement, the role focuses on driving product awareness, supporting partners’ sales capability, and identifying opportunities to increase general insurance revenue. The postholder will use data led insight to influence performance, provide tailored guidance, and promote best practice behaviours. They will ensure partners receive consistent, high quality support that strengthens long term growth and builds trusted partner relationships.
Manage a defined panel of firms, building strong and trusted partner relationships while promoting the Paymentshield proposition.
Deliver sustained sales growth across your panel and achieve agreed business targets.
Maintain high levels of proactive engagement to ensure partners receive consistent support and guidance.
Develop and execute structured business plans to maximise sales opportunities within your panel.
Tailor your pitch and communication style to suit a wide range of stakeholders, from front line sellers to business owners and principals.
Understand the needs and challenges of your panel, providing valuable feedback internally to support wider business objectives.
Work closely with both sales and administrative staff within partner firms to optimise processes and improve performance.
Support internal colleagues, including your National Account Manager, Key Account Manager, and fellow Business Development Manager, to deliver a coordinated partner experience.
Understand and adhere to Paymentshield and industry compliance standards at all times.
Identify new opportunities for growth and potential partnerships within our target markets.
Stay informed of developments, challenges, and opportunities in the mortgage and general insurance sectors, positioning yourself as a knowledgeable expert for your panel.
Use performance data, KPIs, and account level insight to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities, driving targeted improvement actions.
Provide coaching and guidance to partners to enhance their GI sales capability, confidence, and customer conversations.
Confidently manage objections and proactively resolve partner concerns to maintain trust and remove barriers to performance.
Share insights and feedback from accounts to support proposition development, operational improvements, and marketing initiatives.
To attend and play an active role in Sales Team meetings
Achievement of quarterly sales targets
High levels of activity with a range of firms within your panel
Strong quality observed via Sales Manager observation
Compliance with policy, regulation and law

CRM system updated after each meeting
Essential
Strong track record working in a sales environment and delivering against set targets
Experience dealing with customers over the telephone or via Teams
Self-starter comfortable with managing your own time when faced with competing priorities
Ability to work both individually and as part of a team to drive sales performance
Demonstrate ability to build trusted partner relationships
Strong inter-personal skills

Experience of B2B consultative sales
Strong understanding of the mortgage and general insurance markets

Strong commercial awareness
CEMAP qualified or part-qualified
