Technical Accounting Manager — Finance 📍 Sofia, Bulgaria About the team The Finance team sits at the heart of SumUp — a fast-scaling, IFRS-reporting fintech operating across 37 markets — and the Technical Accounting team is where financial rigour meets real business impact. This role owns the Group's accounting framework: from interpreting complex IFRS standards to building the policies and guidance that keep over 10 legal entities aligned and audit-ready. If you're someone who finds genuine satisfaction in getting technical accounting right — and making it accessible to the teams around you — this is a role where your expertise will shape how an entire organisation understands and applies its financial reporting framework. 🎥 Get a feel for our Sofia office: Sofia What you'll do Lead the interpretation and application of IFRS across the Group, preparing well-supported technical accounting position papers and providing clear, practical guidance to controlling, accounting, and finance teams Own the Group Accounting Manual — designing, maintaining, and publishing up-to-date policies through a structured Notion library and Jira-based workflow for review, approval, and publication Review significant contracts and new business initiatives for accounting implications, partnering closely with Legal, FP&A, Tax, and Regional Accounting teams to ensure consistent treatment across the organisation Coordinate with external auditors on technical matters and support audit readiness, benchmarking competitor filings to ensure disclosures reflect best practice Deliver training sessions for the Accounting and Controlling teams on new or evolving IFRS standards, serving as a trusted escalation point for complex accounting questions across the Group You'll be great for this role if… Strong expertise in IFRS with end-to-end experience across complex group structures, multi-entity consolidations, and non-routine transactions Professionally qualified with ACCA or ACA (CPA is a plus), and a Master's degree in Accounting or Finance A track record of producing high-quality technical accounting papers, policy frameworks, and management-ready reporting in a large or listed company environment Comfort operating as a standalone expert in a cross-functional setting, building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across finance, legal, and the wider business Ability to navigate ambiguity and fast-moving priorities without compromising technical accuracy or governance standards Why you should join SumUp 🌍 Opportunity to work with SumUppers globally on large-scale fintech products used by millions of businesses worldwide, from our modern Sofia office.
