A well-established 3 Partner Chartered Accountancy practice is looking to recruit an experienced Tax Manager to join its friendly and supportive team. The firm provides accountancy, taxation and business advisory services to around 500 SME and owner-managed business clients, including sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, charities, corporate groups and private individuals.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional seeking a varied role with a strong focus on personal tax while retaining exposure to wider general practice work.
The Role The position is approximately 70% personal tax and 30% general practice, offering a broad and diverse workload. Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and reviewing Self-Assessment Tax Returns, including non-resident individuals, deputyship clients, Trusts and Estates.
Managing client relationships and providing practical tax advice on a wide range of day-to-day matters.
Supporting the Partners by allocating work, reviewing assignments and mentoring junior members of the team.
Undertaking general practice work including bookkeeping, VAT returns, year-end accounts, corporation tax and audit assignments.
Liaising with HMRC regarding refunds, enquiries, penalties, appeals and compliance matters.
Preparing and reviewing ATED returns, P11D returns and 60-day Capital Gains Tax returns.
Assisting with the development and implementation of new processes and procedures to improve workflow and efficiency across the practice.
About You The successful candidate will have strong technical tax knowledge together with excellent organisational and client-facing skills. You will ideally have:
Experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
Strong knowledge of personal tax, including Trusts and Estates.
Exposure to corporation tax, VAT and general practice accounting work.
The ability to supervise, review and support junior staff.
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build lasting client relationships.
A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
Experience using TaxCalc together with QuickBooks Online and/or Xero would be highly advantageous.
