Strategic Sourcing Manager

Contract Duration: 6 Months initially

Rate: £500-£550 per day (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)

Location: Hybrid working, 3 days per week on site

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead the delivery of business-critical procurement and sourcing activities across medium to high-value spend categories. This role is perfect for a commercially focused sourcing professional with a proven track record of delivering significant cost savings, managing senior stakeholders, and driving strategic procurement initiatives in a complex organisation.

Day-to-day of the role

Lead end-to-end sourcing activities for complex, medium to high-spend categories, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory, legislative, and governance requirements.

Develop and execute sourcing strategies that deliver commercial value, operational efficiencies, and sustainable savings.

Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders, including Heads of Function and Executive-level leaders, to define sourcing priorities and deliver strategic procurement objectives.

Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of savings and business benefits, ensuring alignment with organisational budgets and finance approval processes.

Lead negotiations for high-value contracts, securing significant commercial benefits and favourable contractual outcomes.

Drive demand management initiatives, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, cost avoidance, and spend optimisation.

Conduct market analysis, benchmarking, and supplier assessments to identify innovative solutions and maximise total cost of ownership benefits.

Provide expert procurement and sourcing advice across the business, acting as a trusted commercial partner.

Support supplier transition and handover activities, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and supplier relationship management.

Contribute to integrated market planning and procurement strategy reviews.

Lead, coach, and develop sourcing professionals, promoting best practice and continuous improvement within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Significant strategic sourcing and procurement experience, with a demonstrable history of delivering substantial savings and commercial benefits.

Proven experience managing complex sourcing exercises and high-value contracts.

Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at senior leadership and executive level.

Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills, including experience leading high-value negotiations.

Strong understanding of sourcing methodologies, procurement processes, and category management principles.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

Professional procurement qualification such as CIPS, RICS, MBA, MSc, or similar.

Experience within regulated industries, infrastructure, utilities, engineering, or asset-intensive environments.

Project management experience and knowledge of structured project delivery methodologies.
