Laravel PHP Developer | Bristol | Hybrid | £40,000 - £60,000 DOE

We're working with a growing organisation in Bristol that's looking to hire a Laravel PHP Developer to join their engineering team. This role will support the ongoing development of their platform and APIs, with a strong focus on modern, scalable backend development.

This is a hands-on position where you'll play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining backend services using best practices. You'll collaborate closely with developers, QA, and stakeholders to deliver new features, enhance existing systems, and contribute to technical decisions as the platform evolves.

The Role

Develop, maintain, and optimise APIs and backend services using Laravel

Write clean, scalable, and well-documented PHP code

Collaborate with frontend developers, QA, and stakeholders

Support and improve existing systems, troubleshooting issues where required

Contribute to code reviews, testing, and CI/CD processes

Play an active role in architectural and technical decision-making

About You

Strong experience developing with PHP and Laravel

Solid understanding of REST APIs

Experience working with AWS and modern deployment practices

Good knowledge of relational databases (e.g. MySQL)

Comfortable working in collaborative, agile environments

Passion for writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code

Desirable

Frontend exposure (JavaScript, TypeScript, React)

Experience with Docker or containerised environments

Understanding of microservices or serverless architecture

Experience with automated testing / TDD
