Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Social Media Officer for our client, a local government organisation based in Ellesmere Port.
The successful post holder will deliver high-quality, engaging social media content that supports the Combined Authority's priorities and prepares the organisation for the arrival of its first Mayor in 2027.
Support the Digital Content Manager in implementing the CA's digital content strategy and delivery plan, ensuring social content is accessible, inclusive, insight-driven and aligned with the wider communications and news agenda.
Work confidently with colleagues across councils and partner organisations to ensure coordinated messaging and effective digital engagement.
This role is a temporary contract with an initial contract length of 3 months with the possibility to extend. This role is fully agile working with travel between sites across Cheshire East, West & Warrington.
Create, schedule and publish engaging content across all Combined Authority social media channels, ensuring accuracy, accessibility and brand consistency.
Produce high-quality social media content, including graphics, short-form videos, animations, stories and platform-specific content tailored to different audiences.
Monitor social media channels, responding to comments, messages and interactions appropriately while escalating issues where necessary.
Work collaboratively with communications teams across constituent councils and partner organisations to ensure coordinated messaging and aligned digital communications.
Develop and deliver accessible and engaging social media content to support statutory consultations and encourage public participation.
Monitor social media performance using analytics tools, identifying trends and recommending improvements to maximise engagement and reach.
Support the delivery of digital campaigns, including paid social media activity where required.
Provide responsive social media support during breaking news, incidents and reputational issues, working closely with the Digital Content Manager and Head of News.
Ensure all social media content is inclusive, accessible and representative of the diverse communities across the region.
Contribute to the forward planning of digital content, maintaining an organised schedule of upcoming campaigns and social media activity.
Ensure all content reflects the Combined Authority's tone of voice, brand identity and organisational values.
Maintain political neutrality and ensure all social media activity complies with relevant legislation, governance requirements and pre-election restrictions.
Experience delivering social media content within a professional, customer-facing organisation.
Strong understanding of social media platforms, audience behaviour, algorithms and current digital trends.
Ability to create engaging, accessible content tailored to a range of audiences and communities.
Experience supporting statutory consultations or public engagement activities.
Experience working collaboratively with colleagues across multiple organisations, including local authorities and partner organisations.
Skilled in producing graphics, short-form video and other multimedia content.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proactive, pragmatic and self-motivated approach to managing workload.
Ability to work at pace and respond effectively to emerging issues.
Commitment to inclusive and accessible communication.
Experience using social media analytics tools such as Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite or Sprout to evaluate and improve content performance.
Ability to work effectively within a politically restricted environment, demonstrating sound judgement and professionalism.
Experience working within local government, devolution or mayoral organisations.
Experience supporting digital campaigns, including paid social media activity.
Basic understanding of behavioural insights and audience segmentation.
Experience using web content management systems or undertaking basic website updates.
Working Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Pay: £23.97 per hour.
Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.
