Job Description
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in delivering innovative traffic and highway schemes that improve road safety, support sustainable transport and enhance the lives of those who live, work and travel across Calderdale.
Working within a collaborative and forward-thinking team, you'll act as a technical specialist, managing projects, mentoring engineers and helping shape transport solutions that support both local priorities and regional strategies.
Lead the development and delivery of traffic engineering schemes and programmes.
Act as a technical expert, providing advice to colleagues, stakeholders and elected members.
Manage multiple projects, budgets, risk registers and delivery programmes.
Produce innovative, safe and cost-effective design solutions.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, utility providers, regional authorities and key stakeholders.
Ensure high levels of Health and Safety including compliance with CDM Regulations.
Mentor and develop engineers and junior team members.
Support the Team Leader and deputising when required.
Drive continuous improvement, innovation and best practice within the service.
The Successful Applicant
A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction & Built Environment, Asset Management or a related discipline, or significant relevant experience.
Hold a full driving licence, and access to a vehicle for work purposes
Proven experience delivering traffic engineering and highway schemes.
Strong knowledge of TSRGD, DMRB and highway legislation.
Experience managing budgets, programmes and multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience with AutoCAD and highways/traffic design software.
Knowledge of Traffic Regulation Orders, Speed Limit Orders and Parking Places Orders.
