Job Description

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.

We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer in our Furnishing Platform team to build scalable systems and data pipelines to power our consumer credit reporting. You will partner closely with our Product, Compliance, Servicing, and Credit teams to design robust reporting systems. The systems you will work on are vital for delivering accurate and timely data from Affirm’s financial product portfolio to Consumer Reporting Agencies.

Affirm is growing fast and we want you to enable us to scale our products to 10x and beyond through building world-class systems which enable Affirm in its mission to provide honest financial products which improve lives.

We are only just getting started! Come join us as we build a beloved, lasting financial services brand predicated on honesty and trust. It’s going to be an amazing ride!

What You’ll Do

Own and deliver strategic outcomes: Drive the definition and delivery of quarterly and long-term goals, ensuring your team’s work ladders up to company-wide objectives. Lead engineers through ambiguity and open-ended problems, providing clarity and direction.

Shape architecture and technical strategy: Influence the design of large-scale data and backend systems across multiple teams. Ensure that solutions are scalable, extensible, and aligned with broader engineering standards.

Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with product, analytics, and design to define data-driven solutions. Anticipate risks, articulate trade-offs, and ensure technical decisions support long-term product and business needs.

Champion operational excellence: Ensure high availability and reliability of data pipelines and services by establishing strong monitoring, alerting, and recovery practices. Drive improvements that reduce system fragility and operational burden.
