Senior Project Accountant - 3-6 Month Contract Salary: £65,000 salary equivalent / day rate considered Duration: 3-6 months Start: ASAP /w/c 28th September 26 Location: Renfrewshire

We're recruiting for an experienced Senior Project Accountant to join a business on an initial 3-6 month interim assignment.

This is a key role within the finance function, focused on providing strong project accounting support across the full lifecycle of major projects. You'll work closely with Project Managers and operational stakeholders, providing financial insight and ensuring projects are accurately reported and managed.

A key requirement for the role is ICAS or ACCA qualification, alongside strong practical experience of IFRS 15 and project accounting. The Opportunity You'll take ownership of project accounting from bid stage through to completion, supporting project teams with financial modelling, reporting, forecasting and performance analysis.

A key part of the role will be ensuring appropriate IFRS 15 accounting and cost recognition, alongside improving the visibility and quality of project MI across the business.

You'll also have the opportunity to influence how finance supports future bids and projects, while working closely with the Financial Controller to improve reporting and processes. Key Responsibilities

Lead project accounting across major projects from start to finish.

Work closely with Project Managers to understand project performance, risks and opportunities.

Own project reporting and internal MI.

Ensure appropriate IFRS 15 accounting and revenue/cost recognition.

Provide financial insight to support project decision-making.

Support the finance team with project bids and commercial analysis.

Identify opportunities to improve financial visibility across projects.

Develop and improve reporting templates, and processes.

Work closely with the Financial Controller to strengthen project reporting.

Provide guidance and oversight to two Project Accountants.

Support wider finance transformation and process improvement initiatives.

About You We're looking for someone who is hands-on, solutions-focused and commercially minded, with the confidence to work closely with operational and project teams.

Essential

ICAS or ACCA qualified.

Strong project accounting experience.

Proven IFRS 15 experience - essential.

Strong understanding of cost recognition and project accounting.

Experience working closely with Project Managers or operational stakeholders.

Strong reporting and financial analysis skills.

Ability to improve processes, systems and financial visibility.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and taking ownership.

This would suit an experienced Project Accountant, Senior Project Accountant or Finance Manager who enjoys getting close to the detail of projects while also improving the wider finance function.
