Senior Accountant

About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-trained accountant looking to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while working closely with directors and supporting junior team members. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse range of clients, preparing statutory accounts, providing tax and business advice, and building strong client relationships. Key Responsibilities
Managing a portfolio of SME, limited company, sole trader and partnership clients
Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards
Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns
Reviewing bookkeeping and VAT returns
Liaising directly with clients on accounting, taxation and business matters
Assisting clients with cloud accounting software and process improvements
Providing management accounts and financial reporting where required
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
Ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional standards
Building and maintaining strong long-term client relationships
Candidate Requirements Essential
Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
Practice-trained accountant with a solid understanding of UK accounting and taxation requirements
ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified
Experience preparing statutory accounts for a varied client portfolio
Strong knowledge of corporation tax, VAT and personal tax
Excellent communication and client-facing skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Software Experience Candidates should have experience using a variety of accounting systems, including:
Xero
Sage
QuickBooks
Microsoft Dynamics
Experience with cloud-based accounting platforms and digital bookkeeping solutions would be highly advantageous. What's on Offer
