Senior Power Platform Engineer - Ascot Lloyd
Skills & Technologies
Job Description
The Power Platform Engineer designs, builds, operates and owns business automation and AI-assisted solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, AI Foundry and Copilot Studio. The focus is on automating time-consuming business processes, improving operational efficiency, and enabling the secure, governed use of AI-driven assistants and workflows across the organisation.
Working closely with business teams, this role requires regular in-office collaboration to observe, understand and improve real business processes alongside end users. The position is a key contributor to Ascot Lloyd's AI and Automation strategy, responsible for shaping use cases with the business and safely operationalising Power App capabilities in a controlled, compliant and scalable manner within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Spend time embedded with business teams to directly observe processes, pain points and workarounds, ensuring solutions address real operational challenges.
Design, build, operate and continuously improve Power Apps, Power Automate workflows and solutions to automate and digitise end-to-end business processes.
Engineer AI-assisted copilots and agents using Copilot Studio, contributing directly to enterprise AI patterns, standards and adoption.
Act as a key technical partner for the AI Centre of Excellence, translating AI and automation strategy into delivered, governed business capabilities.
Design and support attended UI-based automations (RPA) using Power Automate Desktop where APIs are unavailable, ensuring appropriate controls, auditability and FCA-aligned governance.
Own and continuously improve existing Power Platform and Copilot solutions developed by business users and citizen engineers.
Implement and enforce governance, security, environment and lifecycle controls for Power Platform and AI solutions in line with FCA, GDPR and internal policy.
Work closely with business teams to translate process, operational and policy requirements into effective, automated solutions.
Collaborate with other engineers and the data team, including the Azure Integration Engineer, to consume centrally provided APIs, events and AI capabilities rather than embedding integration logic in low-code solutions.
Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise Power Platform and Copilot solutions to ensure reliability, performance and auditability.
Produce clear documentation and guidance to support safe, consistent use of Power Platform and AI capabilities.
Lead controlled rollout and adoption of automation and AI-enabled capabilities across the business.
Experience / Skills Required
Power Platform & Automation Engineering: Strong hands-on experience designing, building and operating Power Apps and Power Automate workflows, including complex, long-running and approval-based automations that digitise end-to-end business processes.
Workflow & Process Automation: Proven ability to analyse business processes and engineer reliable, maintainable automation solutions that reduce manual effort and operational risk.
Copilot Studio & AI Enablement: Experience designing, building and maintaining AI-assisted copilots and agents using Copilot Studio for practical business, operational and compliance use cases.
Automation & AI Application: Practical experience applying automation and AI together across operational, administrative, policy and compliance processes, selecting the appropriate approach for each scenario.
Governance & Control: Strong understanding of Power Platform environments, DLP policies, security roles and solution lifecycle management within regulated environments, including financial services, with awareness of FCA-aligned governance and control requirements.
Integration Consumption: Experience consuming secure APIs, connectors and events provided by central integration services rather than embedding integration logic in low-code solutions.
Operational Ownership: Ability to monitor, diagnose and resolve issues, optimise performance and support live automation and AI solutions in production.
Delivery
Comfortable working within Agile delivery models, including Scrum and Kanban.
Able to take solutions from discovery through build, release and ongoing support.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a process-improvement mindset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable working closely with business users and supporting citizen-Engineer initiatives at a deeper technical level.
Organised, reliable and comfortable taking ownership of business-critical automation solutions.
Willing to visit Ascot Lloyd offices as required to support delivery, adoption and collaboration.
