Senior Finance Manager

Senior Finance Manager South Yorkshire — 1 day/week in the office, 4 days remote — 6-month fixed-term contract

A public sector organisation operating across South Yorkshire is looking to bring in a Senior Finance Manager on an initial six-month contract. Office presence rotates between Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and Barnsley, with the rest of the week worked remotely.

What you'll be doing

You'll take ownership of financial reporting and budget preparation, keeping everything aligned with the relevant financial regulations and standards. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you'll help manage financial performance and provide the insight that supports decision-making and strategic planning. Cash flow monitoring and efficient resource allocation sit with you, alongside identifying and implementing improvements to financial processes. You'll also supervise and support members of the finance team, and contribute to audits and other financial reviews as they arise.

What we're looking for

A relevant accounting or finance qualification — CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent — backed by solid experience in financial reporting and budgeting. You'll need a strong grasp of public sector financial regulations, the ability to manage and interpret complex financial data, and the communication skills to engage confidently with stakeholders at every level. Experience improving financial processes and systems matters, as does confidence managing and mentoring a team.

What's on offer

£57,000–£65,000, depending on experience, on a six-month fixed-term contract. The role is largely remote, with office presence required just one day a week, rotating between Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and Barnsley.
