Senior External Reporting Manager
Location: Leeds / Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior External Reporting Manager to join a well-established and growing organisation undergoing significant transformation and investment across its finance function.
Reporting to the Head of External Reporting, you will play a key role across external reporting, technical accounting and governance, working closely with senior stakeholders, auditors and external advisors. This is a technically focused role offering significant exposure to complex transactions, statutory reporting and senior decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical accounting expertise across complex transactions, projects and accounting matters, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Research and resolve technical accounting issues, preparing papers and recommendations for auditors and senior governance forums.
Support the preparation and delivery of Group and local statutory financial statements.
Work closely with internal and external auditors throughout the reporting and audit cycle, including year-end activities.
Support the assessment and documentation of significant accounting judgements and estimates.
Manage recurring external stakeholder reporting, ensuring accurate and consistent information is provided.
Prepare ad-hoc analysis and responses to information requests from senior stakeholders and external parties.
Support Board and senior governance meetings, providing clear financial analysis and reporting.
Contribute to the continued development and improvement of the finance function, identifying opportunities to enhance reporting processes, controls and ways of working.
About You
We are looking for a technically strong and commercially minded qualified accountant who enjoys working in a complex, fast-paced environment.
ACA qualification with at least 3 years' post-qualification experience.
Strong experience in external reporting and statutory accounts.
Experience working through the statutory audit process.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience working with IFRS.
Experience dealing with complex transactions, projects or accounting judgements.
Excellent analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
Experience collaborating with multiple finance and non-finance stakeholders to deliver high-quality outputs against tight deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and a rigorous, methodical approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
