Job Description

About The Role FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Data & Technology Engineer to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

In this role, you will own and develop data orchestration and governance to best practices as well as help with setting direction of technology within the company and be proactive with finding work that serves the business. You’ll also contribute to setting the company’s technology direction and proactively identify opportunities that support business priorities.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with investment team and taking ownership of current inhouse applications (React front end) as well as infrastructure that sits behind it (Dagster, Azure, SQL, third party APIs)

Build new platforms from scratch to speed up processes (this, however, is typically more of a full stack role focus)

Work closely with technology partners (Macquarie Cloud Services, Systima, Pinnacle Investment)

Support basic tasks such as working on an excel app that fund managers use daily

Participate in defining the future of the organisation's technological architecture and journey

About You

5+ years’ experience in a data engineering role

Strong data governance experience

Confident, hands-on coding ability

Comfortable acting as a technical authority - advising on approach and best practice and communicating clearly with non-technical stakeholders

Experience with Azure, SQL, Dagster, Airflow or similar tools acceptable

Experience with Python scripting, React-based applications, FactSet and third-party web APIs

Desirable

Understanding of financial data

experience with VBA scripting and related tools
