Senior Control Systems Engineer

MERITUS are recruiting for a Senior Control Systems Software Engineer to join our client based in Glasgow to support the delivery of complex automation and energy infrastructure projects.

SENIOR CONTROL SYSTEMS SOFTWARE ENGINEER - £NEG (ENQUIRE FOR DETAILS) - GLASGOW (HYBRID, 3 DAYS ON-SITE) - SECTOR: ENERGY / INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION

Design, develop, and test PLC-based control system software solutions for energy sector applications using Siemens platforms.

Support project delivery across the full project lifecycle, from requirements definition and system design through to testing and commissioning.

Produce high-quality technical documentation including functional design specifications, test procedures, and commissioning documentation.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and clients to ensure successful technical project delivery.

Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and on-site commissioning activities.

Contribute to the delivery of reliable and high-performance control systems across critical energy infrastructure projects.

Skillset / experience required

Essential

Strong experience designing and programming Siemens PLC systems including TIA Portal, S7, and PCS7.

Proven experience delivering PLC, SCADA, and DCS control systems within energy or industrial environments.

Good understanding of control systems engineering across the full project lifecycle.

Knowledge of IEC 61131 programming languages including Ladder Logic, Function Block, and Structured Text.

Strong problem-solving abilities with the capability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.

Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders and clients.

Desirable

Previous experience within Power Generation, Utilities, Renewables, or other highly regulated sectors.

Experience supporting commissioning and site-based project activities.

Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and networking.

Experience producing technical specifications and test documentation.

Understanding of systems integration and industrial automation environments.
