Senior Accountant Location: Birmingham Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 If you're an experienced accountant looking to join a friendly, growing firm where you'll have ownership of your own client portfolio, this could be the perfect next step. We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice looking for a Senior Accountant to support a diverse range of SME clients. This is a varied role where no two days are the same, giving you exposure to accounts preparation, tax compliance, VAT and client advisory work. The Role As a Senior Accountant, you'll manage your own portfolio of clients, building strong relationships while ensuring accounts and tax work are delivered accurately and on time. Responsibilities

Preparing year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships

Preparing and submitting Corporation Tax and Self Assessment tax returns

Preparing and reviewing VAT returns

Managing a portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors

Reviewing bookkeeping records and preparing management information where required

Advising clients on day-to-day accounting and tax matters

Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team

Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients

Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory deadlines

About You

Previous experience working in an accountancy practice is essential

Confident preparing accounts from trial balance through to final accounts

Good understanding of Corporation Tax, Personal Tax and VAT

Experience managing client relationships

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience (QBE)
