The Opportunity

A well-established and growing boutique accountancy practice is seeking a Qualified Accountant to join its friendly and collaborative team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing client relationships, delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services, and supporting the continued growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a varied client portfolio.

Managing the preparation and submission of corporation tax, VAT, and personal tax returns, including those for directors, high-net-worth individuals, sole traders, and owner-managed businesses.

Providing clients with personal tax planning advice, helping individuals maximise tax efficiencies and ensuring compliance with current legislation.

Advising clients on a broad range of personal tax matters, including income tax, capital gains tax, dividend planning, and self-assessment requirements.

Providing clients with accounting, business, and tax advice.

Supporting clients with management accounts, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting.

Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor.

Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing mentorship where required.

Assisting with business development opportunities and identifying value-added services for clients.

Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Supporting partners with ad hoc projects and client assignments.

Requirements

Essential

ACA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualification.

Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.

Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, corporation tax, VAT, and personal taxation.

Proven experience preparing and reviewing personal tax returns and advising clients on personal tax matters.

Experience managing a portfolio of clients.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar.

Desirable

Experience working with owner-managed businesses, directors, and SMEs.

Exposure to personal tax planning and advisory services.

Experience advising high-net-worth individuals and business owners on tax-efficient planning strategies.

Previous experience reviewing junior staff work.
