Job Description

PROJECT ENGINEER Location: Hamilton or Coatbridge Working Pattern: Monday-Friday, Day Shift (08:30-17:00) Salary: Up to £65,000

THE ROLE MRD is recruiting two experienced Project Engineers to support key manufacturing sites in South Lanarkshire.

You will be responsible for delivering capital investment and continuous improvement projects from concept through to completion, helping drive efficiency, process improvement, and site development.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong project delivery skills, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage multiple improvement initiatives in a fast-paced production environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver capital expenditure and improvement projects from concept to completion

Identify and scope improvement opportunities across site operations

Develop business cases, costings, and ROI justification for project approval

Manage project plans, budgets, risks, and timelines

Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver engineering solutions

Act as technical lead for assigned projects, including supplier coordination

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards

Analyse operational data to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities

Deliver structured project handover into business-as-usual operations

Support CapEx planning and contribute to annual and 3-year site plans

Report project progress, KPIs, and financial performance to stakeholders

Drive standardisation and continuous improvement across processes

ABOUT YOUEssential

Degree in an Engineering discipline

Proven experience in Project Engineering or Project Management

Strong understanding of engineering drawings

Excellent organisational and communication skills

Strong IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure

Strong numerical and analytical ability

Experience working with stakeholders and contractors

Desirable

PRINCE2 or equivalent qualification

IOSH or similar safety qualification

FMCG or manufacturing experience

Mechanical or electrical background

Contractor management experience

Knowledge of machinery safety regulations

AutoCAD or similar design software

Experience with root cause analysis (e.g. 5 Whys)
