Job Description

🚀 We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone.

We’re waving goodbye to the complicated and confusing ways of traditional banking.

After starting as a prepaid card, our product offering has grown a lot in the last 10 years in the UK. As well as personal and business bank accounts, we offer joint accounts, accounts for 16-17 year olds, a free kids account and credit cards in the UK, with more exciting things to come beyond. Our UK customers can also save, invest and combine their pensions with us.

With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers!

We’re not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo ❤️

📍 London / UK | Salary dependent on experience + Stock Options + Benefits

Flex is one of Monzo’s fastest-growing and most commercially significant products. Four years ago, we reinvented the credit card experience—building something simpler, more transparent, and genuinely useful. Today, over a million customers use Flex.

We’re looking for a Product Director to lead Flex into its next phase of growth.

This is a high-impact, deeply commercial role at the intersection of product and credit. You’ll define how we scale borrowing responsibly, expand into new segments, and continue building products customers genuinely love.

You’ll work closely with Engineering, Credit, Data, Design, and senior leadership to identify new opportunities, optimise performance across complex segments, and deliver at pace.

What you’ll be working on…

Set the strategy for Flex

Set direction for one of Monzo’s most important revenue-driving products

Identify and unlock new commercial opportunities across customer segments

Navigate complex trade-offs between growth, risk, and customer outcomes

Drive commercial performance

Work closely with Credit teams to shape propositions across multiple risk segments and cohorts

Interrogate performance deeply — from unit economics to long-term profitability curves

Identify and drive new commercial opportunities

Champion the customer

Ensure Flex remains rooted in strong customer outcomes, not just revenue

Push for simple, transparent, and delightful experiences

Advocate for customer experience alongside commercial outcomes

Build and lead a high-performing team

Manage and develop a team of Product Managers

Deliver multiple high-impact initiatives through your direct reports

Raise the bar on product thinking and foster a culture of high standard and high velocity

🌟 What We’re Looking For

Commercial Thinking

Strong commercial instinct — you think in terms of trade-offs, economics, and outcomes

Comfortable operating in complex environments (e.g. multiple segments and cohorts with different commercials)

Able to engage deeply with Credit and Data partners

Experience in lending, credit cards, or adjacent borrowing products

Consumer Focus

You start with the customer never lose track of their needs

You’re willing to challenge revenue-driven decisions when they conflict with good customer outcomes

You have strong product taste and care deeply about experience quality

Execution & Leadership

Proven ability to deliver in fast-paced environments with multiple workstreams

Comfortable going deep in the detail while leading through others

Strong cross-functional leadership across technical, credit, and governance stakeholders

What’s in it for you

💰Base salary dependent upon experience + Stock Options + Benefits

✈️ We can help you relocate to the UK

✅ We can sponsor visas

📍This role can be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London).

⏰ We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, at times that suit you and your team.

📚Learning budget of £1,000 a year for books, training
