Product Design Engineer - AI-Native Products

Product Design Engineer (AI-Native Products) Remote working | Candidates must be UK based | Typical working pattern will be approx. 11am-8pm UK time.

We're partnering with a global technology organisation to hire a Product Design Engineer who can design and build next-generation AI-powered employee experiences. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of Product Design, Front-End Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, helping shape the future of how employees interact with AI-powered tools. You'll join a highly innovative team focused on defining new interaction patterns, workflows and design systems for AI-native products.

This is not a traditional UX or graphic design role. We're looking for someone who designs experiences and then brings them to life through code, working directly alongside engineers to prototype, test and deliver production-ready solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

Designing and building AI-native product experiences for internal employee-facing platforms

Creating new interaction patterns for conversational, agentic and AI-assisted workflows

Defining design systems, reusable components and best practices for AI-powered products

Working directly in code to prototype and refine user experiences

Partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineers and AI specialists to shape product direction

Designing for emerging AI challenges including uncertainty, latency, trust and multi-step interactions

Conducting user research and usability testing to continuously improve experiences

Contributing to the long-term design language and roadmap for AI-enabled products

What We're Looking For

Experience in Product Design, Design Engineering, Front-End Engineering or a hybrid Design/Development role

Expert-level Figma skills, including experience creating and maintaining component libraries and design systems

Strong React, HTML and CSS experience

Comfortable working directly within a codebase and collaborating with engineering teams

Demonstrable experience designing AI-native products, conversational interfaces or LLM-powered applications

Understanding of AI interaction patterns, prompt workflows, agentic systems and user experiences built around large language models

Experience working with tools such as Claude, OpenAI, Gemini or similar AI platforms

Strong portfolio, showcasing both design work and working prototypes/products

Experience designing enterprise applications, internal tools or complex digital products

Individuals experimenting with AI products through personal projects, startups or side ventures

Candidates who can demonstrate both design thinking and technical execution

Portfolio submission is mandatory and should include examples of AI-related work, prototypes or products
