Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager

Liverpool | £60,000 - £70,000

We are recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing engineering business seeking an experienced and commercially focused Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager to lead procurement activity and support wider supply chain performance across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement or supply chain professional who combines strategic thinking with operational delivery and has a proven track record of driving supplier performance, cost savings and continuous improvement within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, leading a small team of three Buyers, and ensuring the business has a resilient and cost-effective supply chain to support operational requirements.

This role offers a mix of strategic procurement, supplier management and operational leadership, making it ideal for an experienced Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager or Supply Chain Manager looking to make a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement procurement and supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.

Lead and develop a team of three Buyers, driving performance and continuous improvement.

Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations and commercial agreements.

Identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities whilst maintaining quality, service and delivery standards.

Source engineering components, raw materials and indirect spend requirements.

Monitor supplier performance and proactively manage supply chain risks.

Work closely with Engineering, Production, Operations and Finance teams to support business objectives.

Drive inventory optimisation and supplier performance improvements.

Analyse market conditions, supplier capacity and pricing trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.

Produce procurement and supply chain reports for senior management.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain processes.

About You

Proven experience in a Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager, Supply Chain Manager or Senior Procurement/Supply Chain role.

Experience within an engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment.

Strong commercial, negotiation and supplier management skills.

Experience leading and developing procurement or supply chain teams.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

A strong understanding of both strategic procurement and operational supply chain management.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Experience managing supplier performance, inventory and supply chain risk.

Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

MCIPS qualified or working towards CIPS accreditation would be advantageous but is not essential.

£60,000 - £70,000 salary
