Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)

Your new company Hays Building Services are partnered with a respected multidisciplinary engineering consultancy seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing Bristol office. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrical building services professional to take a leading role in the delivery of complex and high-profile projects across sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, defence, life sciences and advanced manufacturing. You'll play a key role in project delivery, client management, team development and technical leadership, helping shape the future growth of the electrical engineering team within the South West.

Your new role

Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services projects from concept through to completion.

Produce and review electrical designs including power distribution, lighting, life safety systems and renewable technologies.

Manage project resources, budgets and programmes.

Act as a key point of contact for clients, architects, contractors and design teams.

Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and junior team members.

Review calculations, specifications and technical reports.

Support business development activities and help secure new project opportunities.

Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant regulations, standards and best practice.

What you'll need to succeed

Significant experience within a UK building services consultancy environment.

Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services design.

Proven experience leading multidisciplinary projects and client relationships

Proficiency with industry-standard design software.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.

Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards chartership.

Ambition to progress towards Associate or Technical Director level.
