Our client, a well-established wealth management and investment firm, are seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to join their Portfolio Management team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an investment professional who enjoys combining portfolio management expertise with operational excellence and process improvement. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring portfolios are implemented, maintained and monitored effectively, delivering consistent client outcomes while supporting the ongoing evolution of investment processes and controls.
About the Role
As a Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation, oversight and ongoing alignment of discretionary portfolios across a broad client base. Working within a collaborative and high-performing investment team, you will help ensure portfolios remain aligned with client objectives, risk profiles and evolving investment views. You will undertake regular portfolio reviews, monitor portfolio risks and performance, and support the efficient execution of key cyclical activities such as tax management and investment account subscriptions. The role requires a strong focus on governance, accuracy and regulatory compliance, alongside a commitment to continuous improvement and delivering excellent client outcomes.
Managing and overseeing discretionary portfolios to ensure alignment with client mandates and investment strategy.
Conducting regular portfolio reviews and implementing portfolio changes where required.
Monitoring portfolio risk, performance and deviations from agreed mandates.
Leading and supporting key portfolio management processes, including tax management and investment account activities.
Contributing to investment implementation projects and process improvement initiatives.
Supporting the development of portfolio management tools, governance frameworks and operational efficiencies.
Ensuring all portfolio activity is conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
Investigating and resolving portfolio or operational issues where necessary.
Responding to complex queries from internal stakeholders and supporting client-facing teams with investment-related information.
Collaborating closely with colleagues across investment, operations and client service functions.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in discretionary portfolio management, investment implementation or a related investment management environment. You will possess a solid understanding of portfolio construction, asset allocation and investment markets, alongside excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be proactive, analytical and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proven experience in discretionary portfolio management or investment implementation.
Strong knowledge of asset allocation, portfolio construction and investment management principles.
Understanding of the regulatory environment surrounding discretionary investment management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Experience managing competing priorities and delivering work to a high standard.
A client-focused mindset with the ability to balance bespoke requirements and scalable solutions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
A collaborative and proactive approach to teamwork.
Professional investment qualifications such as the IMC, CFA or equivalent (preferred).
