An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Personal Tax & Compliance Manager to join a highly respected and growing accountancy practice in Chipping Sodbury.

With a loyal client base of over 800 clients, the firm has built an outstanding reputation for delivering a high-quality, relationship-led service. Continued growth and increasing demand have created the need for an additional senior hire, with the practice currently turning away new business due to capacity.

This is a rare opportunity to join a successful, ambitious firm at a pivotal stage of its growth journey. The tax and accounts team currently consists of a Partner and six experienced professionals, with plans already in place to expand to a team of ten as the business continues to grow.

The successful candidate will play a key role within the team, taking ownership of personal tax compliance work, supporting junior colleagues and helping the firm maintain the exceptional service standards that have driven its success.

The Role

Reporting directly to the sole Director, you will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of personal tax clients while overseeing compliance processes and ensuring work is delivered accurately and efficiently.

You will act as a trusted adviser to clients and a technical point of reference within the team, helping to drive standards, improve processes and support the ongoing growth of the department.

Key Responsibilities

Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring deadlines and compliance obligations are met

Preparing and reviewing Self-Assessment tax returns, including employment, investment, dividend, property and sole trader income.

Preparing and reviewing sole trader accounts and associated tax computations.

Overseeing VAT working papers and Making Tax Digital reporting requirements.

Identifying tax planning opportunities and highlighting risks where appropriate.

Supporting and mentoring junior team members.

Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and obtain information.

Supporting the continued development and efficiency of tax compliance processes.

Working closely with the Director to manage workflow and client service delivery.

About You

You may be

CTA qualified, part-qualified or studying towards CTA.

ATT qualified with significant practice experience.

Qualified by Experience (QBE) with a strong background in personal tax compliance.

Experienced in managing your own portfolio of personal tax clients.

Comfortable working within a fast-paced and growing practice environment.
