Performance Engineer (Heat Networks)
£60,000 - £69,000 + Training + Development + 36 Days Holiday + Enhanced Pension + Health Cash Plan + Life Assurance + Benefits
Hybrid Role, commutable to London and surrounding areas
Are you a Performance Engineer with experience across heat networks, heating systems or technical assurance, looking for an autonomous role where you can utilise your technical expertise and play a key role in network performance, compliance and continuous improvement?
On offer is an excellent opportunity to join a growing specialist organisation, where you will act as an independent technical authority on heat network performance, conducting audits, analysing technical data and providing evidence-based recommendations that influence operational and engineering decisions across a large portfolio of schemes.
The role will see you assessing the efficiency, reliability and outage performance of heat networks, independently verifying performance and compliance data, identifying areas of underperformance and providing technical guidance on corrective action. You will also prepare detailed audit reports and support the organisation in meeting its regulatory obligations, including acting as a technical representative during Ofgem inspections.
This is a highly autonomous position suited to a Performance Engineer, Technical Assurance Engineer, Energy Engineer or similar professional with strong knowledge of heating system operation and optimisation, who is looking to take ownership of technical assurance and make a genuine impact across the heat network sector.
The Role: Assess the performance of heat networks across a varied portfolio, identifying issues affecting efficiency, reliability and availability. Review and validate technical data and performance information, ensuring it is accurate, robust and suitable for compliance reporting. Investigate areas of poor performance and provide practical recommendations to engineering and operational teams to improve network performance. Produce technical reports and present findings to senior stakeholders, clearly highlighting risks, trends and opportunities for improvement. *Work independently as a technical specialist, supporting regulatory compliance and helping shape wider performance, optimisation and investment decisions.
The Person: Experience within heat networks, heating systems, energy, building services or a closely related engineering environment. Strong understanding of how heating systems operate, including experience assessing, improving or troubleshooting system performance. Background in performance engineering, technical assurance, auditing, quality assurance or a similar analytical engineering role, ideally with 3+ years' relevant experience. Comfortable working with technical data, investigating performance issues and producing clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations. *Confident communicator who can challenge existing practices, influence technical and operational stakeholders and work with a high degree of autonomy; knowledge of Ofgem requirements or regulated utilities would be advantageous.
