We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Payments Manager to optimise internal payment methods, processes, and customer journeys. Working closely with Digital, Retail, Finance, Fraud, Technology, and Customer teams, this role will drive payment performance, operational efficiency, and customer experience improvements through data-led insights and continuous optimisation.
Partnering with the external-facing Payments Manager, this role focuses on maximising the performance, reliability, and effectiveness of our existing and future payment landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Payments Performance & Optimisation
Own payment performance across e-commerce ensuring reliable, efficient, and customer-focused payment experiences with an emphasis on continuous improvement, with a particular focus on e-commerce.
Analyse payment data and KPIs to improve authorisation and acceptance rates, reduce costs, and identify opportunities for optimisation.
Lead investigations into payment failures, customer drop-offs, exceptions, and operational inefficiencies, implementing root-cause solutions and preventative actions.
Partner with key stakeholders teams to deliver payment journeys, features, and enhancements aligned to business and customer objectives.
Internal Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong cross-functional relationships with Digital, Retail, Finance, Fraud, Technology, Compliance, Customer Service, and CX teams to optimise payment processes and customer journeys.
Collaborate across departments to resolve payment issues, manage incidents, and deliver continuous operational improvements.
Lead strategic payment initiatives and projects that enhance payment performance, efficiency, and customer experience.
Influence stakeholders through data-driven insights, recommendations, governance forums, and business cases to support decision-making and alignment.
Reporting & Insight
Establish and monitor payment performance metrics across all payment types, using data-driven insights to improve decision-making and optimise performance.
Develop dashboards covering payment volumes, success rates, declines, fraud etc
Analyse payment trends and operational data to identify issues, recommend enhancements, and measure the impact of optimisation initiatives.
Qualifications
Proven experience (5+ years) in payments, digital optimisation, operational analysis, or similar roles within retail, financial services, or e-commerce environments.
Strong understanding of payment methods, operational processes, customer journeys, and payment optimisation.
Analytical and data-driven, with the ability to interpret trends, generate insights, and recommend improvements.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with experience collaborating across Product, CX, Technology, and business teams.
Proven problem-solving ability, continuous improvement mindset, and capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This role can be based at Asda House, Leeds or George House, Lutterworth!
