The Job

As Management Accountant, you will support the Finance Manager in delivering accurate financial reporting and valuable commercial insight across the business.

Key responsibilities include

Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting P&L reporting

Completing month-end processes including accruals, prepayments and reconciliations

Reconciling and substantiating balance sheet accounts

Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management

Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and annual audit processes

Supporting VAT returns and wider finance activities

Working closely with budget holders to review performance and investigate variances

Supporting credit control and transactional finance activities where required

Liaising with group finance teams and external auditors

You will also play a key role in supporting manufacturing and operational finance activities including:

Standard costing and variance analysis across labour, materials and overheads

Inventory accounting including WIP valuation, stock reconciliations and provisioning

Analysing operational KPIs and production performance

Supporting stock takes and cycle count processes

Reviewing and maintaining costing data, labour standards and operational reporting

You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess the following

Part-qualified CIMA or ACCA, with CIMA preferred

Experience producing management accounts and supporting month-end close

Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment

Strong understanding of costing and operational finance principles

Experience working within smaller or medium-sized businesses

Strong ERP systems experience, ideally including Business Central or Navision

Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability

Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Comfortable working in a hands-on role within a fast-paced environment

Exposure to standard costing, inventory accounting and operational KPI analysis would be highly advantageous.
